Rubber ducky mobile on the edge of a sheer cliff (500 foot drop off). This is the "highway" I drove yesterday in Peru. #mototaxijunket

See that zigzaggy scratch in the side of the mountain? That's a "highway" here in the Andes. #mototaxijunket #rubberduckies

Ran into the first Mototaxi Junket teams I've seen in two days – the 6 guys from London in two mototaxis. They were throwing stones off a cliff, and both their mototaxis were loaded up in pickup trucks. "We've thrown in the towel," they said. There was no way they could make it to the finish line after their latest breakdowns. A little bit demoralizing for myself, because I'm possibly in the same boat, but I'm pushing onward. Going to at least make a valiant attempt to junketeer my way all the way to Urubamba. Two days and 600+ km to go… this is gonna be one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life .#mototaxijunket

Just one of many stunning views in the Andes. I'll post more when I'm done with the junket…but for now I have to hit the road! Two more days to donate, and I'm at $2700 of my $3000 goal! http://Mototaxi.therubberduckies.com #mototaxijunket #andes

Met this wonderful family in Huancayo today – these four brothers fixed my mototaxi, and then they (along with mom and two younger sisters) took me on a tour of some Incan ruins on the edge of town. #mototaxijunket #peru

I stopped in the central plaza of Huancayo for breakfast and was approached by these 5 giggly girls with a video camera. "Hello, do you speak English? Can we do an interview with you?" Of course I agreed. They are students studying English and their assignment was to interview an English speaker. I gave them a tour of my mototaxi, told them some stories and gave them a "patito." I'm amazed that in an entire day in the city center of busting 500,000 person metropolis that I have not seen another "Gringo." Actually, I can count on one hand the number of times I have seen tourists in Peru (other than fellow junketeers) since the rally began. Funny thing too, because parts of Peru (ie: Machu Picchu) are known as the "gringo trail" and are swarming with foreign tourists. #mototaxijunket #peru

Night falls once again on my mascot / roof duck. When people ask why I have rubber duckies all over my Mototaxi, I tell them for "buen suerte" – good luck. But if this duck's main job is to help me ward off break downs, he utterly ineffective. #mototaxijunket #buensuerte #rubberduckies

So many routes to choose from! None of them are paved, and all of them feature insane switchbacks and crazy death cliffs. I am in Huancayo (upper left) and need to get to Ayacucho (lower right) by tomorrow afternoon. Which route should so take? #mototaxijunket
